Marketing and Communications Manager
JOB SUMMARY
This position manages and supports the delivery of communications and marketing outreach of the New York Bankers Association (NYBA) to build greater member and non-member engagement, as well as enhance public awareness of NYBA’s many and varied initiatives on behalf of the banking industry across New York State. NYBA and its member banks are community-focused and dedicate significant human and financial capital to helping improve the lives of those living and working in the areas they serve. The position relies heavily on strong business writing skills for a sophisticated audience and a genuine interest in today’s dynamic financial services industry.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications
- Serve as back-up editor and publisher to EVP for Communications and Member Engagement for a daily email (which publishes at 8:42 AM every business day) and a weekly email (publishes at 4:00 PM every business Friday).
- Maintain NYBA’s website for timeliness and consistency; coordinate content updates across all operating divisions.
- Ensure communications uphold NYBA’s messaging, tone, style, and branding guidelines.
- Bring an innovative and creative approach to current and future communications and marketing needs.
- Scan and collect daily news clippings, judge for relevance to staff and membership; collate and disseminate info pack.
- Social Media: Use LinkedIn and other channels to promote Association news, in consultation with management team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Marketing
- Master email marketing platform (Higher Logic) and its integration with CMS system to create, schedule, coordinate, and track targeted marketing campaigns for events and other Professional Development opportunities; provide assessment based on campaign data analysis.
- Must be able to write engaging promotional copy that aligns with NYBA’s messaging, style, tone, and branding guidelines.
- Ability to manage third-party contractor relationships.
- Collaborate with Professional Development department for pre- and post-event messaging, which includes photo gallery, audio recording, and video dissemination and/or posting.
- Collaborate with Professional Development department on NYBA’s digital learning programs and platform (Elevate).
- Create member feedback surveys; deploy and track responses.
- Research peer group activity, best practices and seek opportunities for innovation.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field.
- Four to six years of work-related experience in marketing and communications.
- Previous Association experience required.
- Experience with web content management systems and email marketing platforms.
- Solid writing and editing skills.
- Some travel may be required, primarily in New York State.

- Technologically savvy, resourceful problem-solver.
- Ability to provide a high-level of 360 degree customer service.
- Desire to understand the modern financial services industry and its market challenges and opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong Personal Computer (PC) skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom communications and scheduling, Internet research experience, a basic knowledge of any Content Management System (CMS) and basic PC troubleshooting.

SALARY
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Salary offerings will ultimately depend on prior experience, education and other qualifications.
